For January 19th I'm going back 30 years to 1991 and a memorable League Division 4 fixture between Maidstone United and York City which was played at Dartford's long-since-demolished Watling Street which Maidstone were groundsharing with Dartford at the time.
This was Maidstone's 2nd season in the Football League and their 3rd season would be their last because they went bust at the end of that season. Maidstone had overstretched their finances in their pursuit of their Football League dream and, having sold their original ground in Maidstone, playing many miles away in Dartford had a catastrophic effect on attendances.
This particular match was a 9 goal classic with the Stones coming out on top 5-4 in front of 1,846. Celebrity trivia buffs might like to know that TV personality Alan Carr's dad Graham (sacked later that year) was in charge of the Stones that day.
CRB Match No. 697
