For February 19th I'm going back 25 years to 1996 and an FA Cup 5th Round tie between Nottingham Forest and Spurs at the City Ground, Nottingham.
This game was abandoned after 15 minutes due to blizzard-like conditions and was the first Spurs game to be abandoned since 1969. Since this game one other Spurs game has also been abandoned and that was another FA Cup tie, this time against Bolton Wanderers where Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch. The snow was treacherous in Nottingham on this particular Monday evening and rumour had it that the road linking Nottingham to the M1 was already blocked when the game was abandoned. I therefore attempted to get to the A1 to get a route south instead but abandoned my journey, having spun the car just outside of Nottingham. Luckily I spied a Travelodge which happened to have one remaining vacant room. I wonder how many Spurs fans actually made it back to London that night? Although Spurs drew the rearranged game in Nottingham, they lost the Replay at White Hart Lane after extra time and penalties.
