2009/01/17 - Team Bath 0 Hampton & Richmond Borough 2 - Conference South

For January 17th I'm going back 12 years to a match between Team Bath and Hampton & Richmond Borough in what is today known as National League South (Level 6 of the English Pyramid).

Team Bath were the representative side of the University of Bath and there were plenty of mutterings from other clubs in Non-League at the time about the unfairness of competition against opposition players who could train every day and who were in receipt of Sports Scholarships (effectively full time professionals?). This particular season represented the highest level of football that Team Bath ever reached and it turned out to be their last season in existence - they were denied the possibility of any further advancement due to their financial structure (they were not a limited company) and they decided to disband rather than restructure.
This match which finished 0-2 was played at Bath City's Twerton Park where Team Bath had opted to groundshare in order to gain the necessary facilities to play at the higher level. Twerton Park is one of those grounds where I've managed to see 3 different Clubs using it as a home ground over the years: Bath City, Team Bath and Bristol Rovers - there's opportunity for a fourth one now as Twerton is currently the home of Bristol City Women of the WSL.

CRB Match No. 1671
