1993/02/07 - Tottenham Hotspur 4 Southampton 2 - Premier League

This game was notable for the greatest 4-goal purple patch in the club's history. Spurs went in at halftime a goal behind following the opener from Ian Dowie. It's not recorded what manager Doug Livermore said to the players during the break but Spurs came out in the second half and scored after 54, 56, 57 and 59 minutes (Sheringham 2, Barmby and Anderton). Four goals in less than 6 minutes! Things went from bad to worse for the Saints as Francis Benali got himself sent off for a terrible challenge on Barmby on 62 minutes. Richard Hall pulled one back for Southampton on 66 minutes (it was an amazing 12 minutes!) but that proved only to be a consolation as it finished 4-2.

Perhaps a sign of the times but the attendance for this 1PM Sunday afternoon fixture was only 20,098. The stayaways missed a little piece of history.
