Today I'm going back 23 years to 1998 and Paris FC's game against Angouleme in the Championnat de France National at the Stade de la Porte de Montreuil in Paris.
The Championnat de France National is effectively the French Third Division. I have already covered the story of Paris FC in an earlier article (you can find this by going to my blog and searching on Paris FC). This game was the first of two occasions on which I have seen Paris FC at this stadium which is also known as the Stade des Freres Dejerine. Today the same stadium is used as the base for the Paris FC second string who play in the National 3 Paris Iles-de-France league, effectively the fifth level of French football whilst the first team now play at the Stade Sebastien Charlety in League 2.
Angouleme, from South-Western France, now play in the Championnat National 2 (the fourth level of French football) and are now known as Angouleme Soyaux-Charente following a merger in 2019.
The game was payed before an attendance of only 300 and finished 3-1 to Paris FC.
CRB Match No. 1155
