Today I'm going back just three years to 2018 and the FA Trophy Extra Preliminary Round tie between Evesham United and Moneyfields.
Why did you go to this game I can hear more than one of you asking? Well it was played on a Sunday and I was at a bit of a loose end and so decided to take in another game following the previous day's Premier League match between Huddersfield Town and Spurs. Evesham have got a tidy little ground built on the outskirts of Evesham and known as the Jubilee Stadium (or Spiers & Hartwell Jubilee Stadium for sponsorship reasons).
But where exactly are Moneyfields from? Moneyfields are certainly a club with a splendid name which would, I think, go rather well in the Premier League. Sadly for Moneyfields however, they are to be found in the Wessex League Premier Division having taken voluntary relegation last season from the Southern League Division One South. The club is based in Portsmouth.
This game turned out to be enthralling with Moneyfields dominating throughout to win 1-5. Moneyfields were however destined to crash 5-0 themselves at Cinderford Town in the next round.
CRB Match No. 2256
