To keep myself amused (and hopefully you too) during these strange times I'm gonna share memorable football programmes from my 7,000 strong collection relating to a match that I attended on the date in question. For February 22nd I'm going back 18 years to 2003 and the Southern League Western Division game between Swindon Supermarine and Racing Club Warwick.
Swindon Supermarine are the product of a merger in 1992 between Supermarine FC and Swindon Athletic. Supermarine were effectively a works team of the old Vickers Armstrong Supermarine Aircraft Company. Supermarine were the company that produced Spitfires amongst other aircraft during the second World War.
Situated right next to the Honda car plant in Swindon, this was my first and only visit to Hunts Copse, now known as the Webbs Wood Stadium. Supermarine shot down Racing Club 2-0 in front of 137 people. This proved to be an important win for Supermarine because they finished the season just one point ahead of relegated Rocester. Racing Club finished rock bottom of the table and were relegated out of the Southern League and into the Midland Alliance.
CRB Match No. 1305
